THE NUCLEUS OF THE KITCHEN

Dreaming of a new or remodeled kitchen? Give extra consideration to the sink area. The kitchen sink is the most used area of the kitchen because of food preparation and cleanup. The sink should be placed in a central and accessible spot. If only one sink will be installed, a corner location should be avoided, since it would be limited to one user at a time. Aim for three feet either side of the outer edge of the sink for preparation/work area. A kitchen with only one sink should be adjacent to, or across from, the cooking surface and the refrigerator.

ALL DECKED OUT

Some homeowners are hesitant to consider home improvements with today's housing market. They are concerned that their additional investment would do little to increase the value of their home with the current real estate values.
A recent study for over twenty remodeling projects showed that Ohio homeowners may recoup 69% or more of the cost of installing a deck to their existing home. While the cost of a deck constructed with composite materials is around 30% more than that of pressure treated wood, the savings in maintenance costs over the life of the deck make it a viable option.
